What it is and why go

The Zócalo International Book Fair has been organised by Mexico City's Ministry of Culture since 2001 and is, by location and by being free, the largest public fair in the country: the 2026 edition, the twenty-sixth, brings together 500 exhibitors from over 350 publishers and more than 750 free events in the Plaza de la Constitución.

Unlike Guadalajara, there are no trade days and no ticket: it is a readers' fair, with open-air stages, launches, music in the evenings and fair prices at the stands.
