What it is and why go

Getafe Negro began in 2008 with novelist Lorenzo Silva as curator and has become the crime fiction event of the Madrid region, with a guest country each year and a programme that mixes established names with the new wave of Spanish crime writing. It awards the Ciudad de Getafe crime novel prize.

The 2026 edition launches an academic conference on crime fiction — devoted to Stephen King and the mutations of the genre — and keeps the Getafe Negro & Fantástico strand for a third year.
