The Brive fair has a particular reputation in the trade: it is the one where authors actually turn up, and stay. For three days hundreds of writers sign under a single covered hall, from Goncourt winners to first novelists, with no hierarchy of stands.
It closes the autumn literary season, right after the big prizes, which often makes it the first place to meet the year's laureates. The programme adds talks, prize ceremonies and a children's strand.
