What it is and why go

Founded in 2002, Più libri più liberi is where Italian independent publishers get the same floor space as the big houses: around three hundred exhibitors and a dense programme of talks, for readers who come to discover rather than to buy the bestseller.

It takes place at Fuksas’ Nuvola in the EUR district in early December — for many Roman readers it doubles as Christmas shopping.

Tips for your visit

Bring a short, curious list

The point is the publishers you have never heard of: keep two or three titles in mind and leave room for discoveries.

Thursday is the best day

Shorter queues for talks and publishers have time to chat. Weekends are crowded.

Metro B to EUR Fermi or Palasport

Ten minutes on foot from there. Driving in on peak days is a bad idea.
